Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day.
What if you lived a single day over and over again, where nothing changes except what's in your own head?

At first,
I guess - you'll be happy. No consequences would last longer than that one day. You could do anything you wanted; eat, smoke, drink, behave any which way.

Second - boredom. A feeling that no point in anything you do; nothing has any consequences. Nothing to live for.
Third - Depression. Suicide.
Fourth - Acceptance. Trying to make the best of it. Reading, learning stuff. You'll never get old, but you'll never get better either.
Fifth - apathy. Catatonia. Insanity.

But the real shocker would be - when tomorrow finally came. Would you be able to adjust? I think you'll go into a rigid panic. Everything would be frighteningly unexpected. You might not have the strength to cope. And you'll probably die soon, secure in the belief of your own immortality. The entire process of learning to live with the consequences of your actions would have to be re-done. Phil got off easy.

New Beginnings

When I started this, aeons ago, I was nursing these awesome dreams of becoming the millionaire critic, hugely in demand with all the moviemakers fawning over him and sending him free passes and chauffered mecedeses so he may write a good review.
Not that it's not going to happen - but it does require certain minimal effort from my side. Like actually writing something.
So, here's what we're going to do. There have been cinema clubs, film clubs, and DVD clubs. Old hat.
We are going to set up a divX club.
Old stuff, bold stuff
Banned stuff and canned stuff
Sequels,
Prequels
Back-to-back marathons while the stars shine on
billions of episodes
occasional trips to commodes
pizza deliveries, no cooking worries
Histories, mysteries
Nature's catastrophes
Comedies and tragedies
Semi - dressed ladies

Ok I am now officially losing it.
There is now DVD player with divx, a DVD burner, a 200 kbps connection, isohunt and imdb, a 29-inch screen and no interruptions, no programme conflicts, and life is good. And everything is available.

I also realized something else, on a more serious note. One can't write about nothing - and one can't write about everything. One has to focus. Make it easy - fix on this, this is what you're going to look at - and the words will flow.
I hope.
